READ

So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:11).

God unleashes His power through His Word.  Paul tells us that he is “not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). It is the Word of God connected to simple water that creates faith in our hearts. It is the Word of God that brings the true Body and the true Blood of Jesus into simple elements of bread and wine to connect us to the Lord’s gift of forgiveness. It is the Word of God that not only brings us to faith, but also nurtures us in faith each time we read it. It truly is God’s power for life.

REFLECT

How often do you read the Word of God?

RESPOND

Prayer: Thank You, Holy Spirit, for the gift of Your Word. As You caused Your Word to be written, so cause my ears to be open to its powerful message. I pray this in the name of Jesus, the Word made flesh to save me.  Amen.
