READ

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4).

Baptism is about new life, because baptism is first about death. By the power of God’s Word in the water of Baptism the Holy Spirit connects us to the work of Jesus on the cross by creating in our hearts a living faith. Of course faith points us to heaven, but faith also moves us to a new life in Christ. Our perspective is no longer a selfish focus on ourselves. Our God-given faith enables us to follow the Word of Jesus, who reminds us to love the Lord with our entire being and then to love others.

REFLECT

How does your faith impact and direct your daily life?

RESPOND

Prayer: O Holy Spirit, thank You for the gift of faith. Continue to guide me that I may use this faith to guide my daily relationships with you and those I meet each day. I pray in Jesus’ loving name.  Amen.
