READ

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13).

There are times that we make sacrifices for others. We turn off the television to play catch with our child. We set aside our weekly pickleball game to spend more time with our spouse. These sacrifices have an impact, but nothing like the impact of the crucifixion. Jesus sets aside the glories of heaven, assumes our flesh, our guilt and our punishment. While He was perfect, He sacrifices Himself for our sins. While He is innocent, He makes Himself the sacrifice for our guilt. This is the greatest of all love.

REFLECT

How does the sacrifice of Jesus impact your prayer life?

RESPOND

Prayer: Gracious Lord, thank You for Your never-ending love and for Your endless forgiveness brought to me through Your sacrifice on the cross. Keep me repentant that I may live in the joy of sin forgiven. I pray in Your loving name.  Amen.
