READ

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:18-20).

Being a member of the Lord’s Church is a joy and a privilege. It is in the Church that we gather together to worship and praise the Lord. In the Church that our faith is strengthened through the Word and Sacrament. In the Church we care for the needs of each other. But the Church is not an exclusive club. This is why Jesus tell us to “Go.” We are to go and invite others to join us in the Lord’s Church and embrace the forgiveness, new life, and eternal life that all people need.

REFLECT

Do you see your congregation more as a private club for healthy members or a medical center for those who need help?

RESPOND

Prayer: Jesus, You called me into faith and into Your Church. Use me to not only praise You, but also to share You with those in my life who are not part of Your Church. I pray this to Your glory. Amen.
