READ

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.

(John 13:34-35)

The Lord created the Church. The Church is to be the place where God’s people worship the Lord and care for one another. Yes, the Church is filled with sinners. These are people who repent of their sin and find forgiveness in the grace and mercy of Jesus. But this love of Christ motivates them to love their brothers and sisters in the faith. Those who claim you don’t have to go to Church to be a Christian rob themselves of the relationships that will comfort them in times of pain, give them hope in days of worry, and assist them in keeping the faith in a world that challenges the people of God.

REFLECT

How connected are you to a Christian congregation?

RESPOND

Prayer: Holy Spirit, thank You for the gift of the Church. Bless me with relationships that will impact my faith walk. Help me to be one who loves and assists others.  In Jesus’ name I live and pray.  Amen.
