READ

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins (I Peter 4:8).

Love covers a multitude of sins in a couple of ways. First, the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus has covered the sins of all people at all times, with the promise that those who confess Him as Lord will be saved. Second, as Jesus’ followers share with each other the forgiveness Jesus has earned, sins are covered with love and relationships are not only saved, but strengthened. This is the forgiving love that saves marriages and families, friends and neighbors, pastors and parishioners.

REFLECT

Whose sins do you need to cover with the forgiving love of Jesus?

RESPOND

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I am both amazed and thankful for the forgiving love You shower on me and all humanity. By Your Holy Spirit, keep me ever prepared to forgive those who have offended me.  I pray and I live in Your powerful name, O Jesus. Amen.
