Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).
We live in a world that longs for peace. Wars rage in the Middle East and in Eastern Europe. News channels stream videos of clashes between protesters and police in our city streets. We hear of violence in our neighborhoods and in our homes. “Peace!” we cry out in frustration. Jesus told His disciples, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). But what is this peace offered by Jesus? Peace is not the absence of war, or violence, or trials, or troubles. Peace is a relationship with Jesus in the midst of the world’s discord. Peace is knowing one is right with the heavenly Father through the perfect Life, the all-atoning death, and the miraculous resurrection of Jesus. Peace is knowing the perfect life we desire is waiting for us in heaven.

Prayer: Blessed Jesus, keep me connected to You by faith that I may have Your peace when my heart is troubled. Remind me that Your gift of heaven awaits me and all who believe in You. I pray in Your name and to Your glory. Amen.
