READ

By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers (I John 3:16).

Simply put, love is sacrificial. When we love ourselves more than others we become demanding, insensitive, and self-centered. We fail to see the needs of others, which means we fail to see the mission we have as followers of Jesus. We are called to care for others. This means we must see others through the eyes of Jesus, who laid down His life with compassion.

Where do you volunteer your time and talents?

RESPOND

Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, for Your sacrifice that has given me new life. Help me to be sensitive to those with needs that I can address. Give me a compassionate heart and Your eyes of mercy. I pray this in Your name and to Your glory.  Amen.
