READ

To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

(Colossians 1:27)

What does Paul mean when he writes, “Christ in you?” Paul reminds us that we are to have a strong connection with Jesus—a firm relationship. We are not called to connect with Jesus only when we have troubles. We should not consider Jesus to be a casual acquaintance. We shouldn’t just rub elbows with Jesus. We are called to be “in Christ.” Ours is a relationship with Jesus that sees Him as the foundation of our lives. His will becomes our will. His love becomes the love we share with others. His forgiveness removes our shame when we sin and moves us back into the new life He won for us.

REFLECT

How does the term “Christ in you” define your life?

RESPOND

Prayer: Gracious Jesus, how blessed I am that You dwell in me. Forgive those times that I have been distant from You and give me a stronger desire to seek Your will for my life. I ask this in Your name, dear Jesus.  Amen.
