When Things Are Bad

AS WE GATHER Stuck. Locked up. Imprisoned. Things get bad in life, and when bad things come, it is easy to get stuck in feelings of despair, anxiety, and loneliness. The letter to the Philippians was written by the apostle Paul while he himself was locked up, and he still finds a way to encourage the Christians in a town called Philippi to see the good in the bad. Paul put it this way, “Be confident that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). The same is true for us. God has begun a good work in us, and even in the midst of the bad things and hard times, we look for the good of what God is up to. This is how we live as Christians when life is hard.
