Holy Living

We hear how precious life is because our precious Savior ransomed us for something better in life. How easy it is for us to get caught up in the things of the world, allowing them to define who we are and how we look at others. Jesus frees us from such small thinking and births us into a fuller view of life.

Seeing 20/20 – What’s Your North Star?

We are asked, “How do we navigate this life?” We need to examine what is our motivation for living and what is our goal in life. For what do we live? We are enticed by the things of the world. But the things of the world change, fade away and leave us lost and lonely. It is Christ alone who gives life meaning and purpose. It is only through Jesus that we can find peace and contentment in this world and the promise of a perfect world to come.

Waiting With God

AS WE GATHER we know that so much of Christmas is about waiting—waiting for a break from school and work; waiting to gather with loved ones; waiting to open presents. 2,000 years ago, people waited for the Savior. Together, we wait with God and we look to the example of Joseph, a man who waited for God’s Son to be born. Waiting with God requires patience and peace, but His presents and His presence are worth it.

Worshipping With Others

AS WE GATHER during these weeks of Advent, our theme is “WITH.” The prophet promised that the Messiah who was to come would be Immanuel—“God with Us.” The truth that God is always with us is a miracle that provides us comfort and peace, hope and life. Today in worship we understand that God meets us here as He promises to be with us in His Word and Sacrament. We gather here with the Lord and each other, week after week, because we need what God offers, namely faith and forgiveness, life and salvation.

TRUTH: The Grave Truth

AS WE GATHER we hear Jesus announce that He is “the way, and the truth, and the life,” and that no one comes to the Father except through Him. On a road map we can find many different roads that lead to the same place, except on certain islands. There is only one bridge and one way to get a vehicle onto the island. Jesus teaches this truth, “I am the way… no one comes to the Father except through me.” Heaven is opened for those who live and believe in Jesus. The grave truth is that there are not many ways…only one. This truth of God needs to be shared. Although there is only way, everyone is invited to join in the journey.

TRUTH: Relatively Speaking

AS WE GATHER we consider the place of truth in our lives, we are confronted by a culture of “relative” truths. It seems our culture encourages us to decide what is true for ourselves. Having a personal truth sounds comfortable and convenient, but what happens when our personal truths collide with God’s truth?

Jonah – When You’re Angry With God

AS WE GATHER we journey with Jonah. Jonah is angry with God, because he know God is gracious and merciful. God isn’t doing what he said he would do. Rather than destroy the Ninevites, God chose to be merciful and Jonah becomes upset. God allows Jonah’s anger and God teaches Jonah how big his love truly is. In Jesus, God has offered free forgiveness to all people. But God’s plan isn’t always satisfying to us. Have you ever felt God has let you down? When have you been upset with God? What should we do when we are ANGRY with God?

Jonah – When You Listen to God

AS WE GATHER We journey with Jonah. He finally responds to God--with miraculous results. God sent him to preach doom and gloom, and people changed their ways. Even with a condemning sermon, God uses Jonah to accomplish great change. What can God do with our efforts, when we line up with his plan? How much could God accomplish if our careers lined up with his calling? What might happen when we RESPOND to God?

Jonah – When You Call on God

AS WE GATHER we journey with Jonah, who was willing to die in disobedience. But God rescued him with a big fish, and we hear Jonah call out to God. What will it take for us to call out? How desperate are we for God to show up? He is waiting to hear from us, to rescue us, to prepare our hearts and minds for where he is leading. Are you ready to CALL OUT to God?

Bold Enough to Build: Full House

AS WE GATHER we reflect on the lives God is building around us. All the work that goes into a good life in Christ is empty without joy. Jesus has filled our hearts and houses with joy, and that joy spills out and flows over into every corner of our life. As we frame and finish our lives on the Foundation of Jesus' love, we fill our house with joy, knowing that God is filling his forever home- heaven- with us.
