Celebrating Marriage

Updated: Feb 11, 2022

It’s that time of year, where you celebrate “love” by buying a card or a gift, or taking your special someone out on a nice date. Now, Valentine’s Day can take a lot of heat, for being too consumeristic, or narcissistic, or making those without someone feel extra lonely. But did you know Valentine’s Day is named for a Christian who was executed for his faith? While also historically being connected to a number of pagan rituals as well, February 14th was celebrated as a day to remember St. Valentine and his standing up for the right of marriage.

We today stand up for marriage, too. It is a blessing to have a “helpmate”. One of the ways we show our support and gratitude for couples going through the process of engagement and marriage is by offering a seminar, “Celebrating Marriage.” While this has traditionally been an in-person event, we recorded videos to share during the past couple years. Now, those videos can be a benefit to you, too.

Whether your single, dating, engaged, or married, these videos provide helpful words for you to get aligned and celebrate the gift of marriage. You can watch these videos here.

If you’d like to talk with a pastor about anything to do with your marriage or engagement, feel free to reach out by emailing connect@fils.org!
